PRAZOPRIME is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs known as alpha-1 blockers. PRAZOPRIME is primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH). Additionally, PRAZOPRIME has been found to be helpful in managing nightmares and sleep disturbances associated with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
PRAZOPRIME works by blocking the alpha-1 adrenergic receptors found in blood vessels and smooth muscle. By doing so, PRAZOPRIME causes the blood vessels to relax and dilate, which helps to lower blood pressure. PRAZOPRIME also reduces muscle tone in the prostate gland, relieving symptoms of BPH.
PRAZOPRIME is available in strengths of 1 and 2mg.
