Metoprolol SR (25 mg) & Amlodipine (5 mg)
METAPROLATE AM is a combination of two different medications that are used together to treat high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. They belong to different drug classes and work in different ways to help lower blood pressure.
Metoprolol works by blocking the effects of adrenaline (epinephrine) on the heart, reducing heart rate and cardiac output. By doing so, it helps lower blood pressure and reduce the workload on the heart. The sustained-release formulation provides a gradual and extended release of the medication, allowing for once-daily dosing.
Amlodipine works by inhibiting the entry of calcium into smooth muscle cells of the blood vessels and heart. This causes relaxation and dilation of the blood vessels, reducing peripheral vascular resistance and lowering blood pressure.
METAPROLATE AM have complementary mechanisms of action, and its combination can have an additive effect in lowering blood pressure. By using METAPROLATE AM, the aim is to achieve better blood pressure control and reduce the risk of complications associated with hypertension.
