TRIOLMISTRUM 20
Olmesartan (20mg), Amlodipine (5mg), and HCTZ (12.5mg) are the names and dosages of three different medications used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).
Olmesartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist, also known as an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, which constricts blood vessels, leading to increased blood pressure. By blocking angiotensin II, olmesartan helps relax and widen the blood vessels, reducing blood pressure. The typical starting dose is 20mg once daily.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It works by blocking the influx of calcium into the smooth muscle cells of the blood vessels and heart, leading to vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) and reduced cardiac workload. Amlodipine is commonly prescribed for hypertension. The usual starting dose is 5mg once daily.
Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that belongs to the thiazide class. It helps lower blood pressure by increasing the excretion of water and salt from the body, which reduces the volume of fluid in the blood vessels. This decrease in blood volume leads to lower blood pressure. The typical starting dose is 12.5mg once daily.
STERIS PHARMA Generic medicines are typically much cheaper than brand-name drugs. Generic medicines have the same active ingredients, strength, dosage form, and route of administration as their brand-name counterparts.
