Prazosin (2 mg)
PRAZOPRIME is a medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to improve symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. It is also sometimes used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and nightmares associated with PTSD.
PRAZOPRIME works by blocking alpha-1 adrenergic receptors, which are located in the smooth muscles of blood vessels and the prostate gland. This causes the blood vessels to relax, which lowers blood pressure, and the prostate gland to shrink, which can improve urinary symptoms associated with BPH.
PRAZOPRIME is taken orally, with or without food, and the dosage depends on the condition being treated and the patient's response to the medication. It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed by a healthcare provider and to not skip doses or stop taking the medication without consulting a doctor.
PRAZOPRIME is available in strengths of 1 & 2 mg.
