Rosuvastatin
ROUSTRIN is a medication that belongs to a class of drugs called statins. It is used to lower cholesterol levels in the blood and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular complications.
ROUSTRIN  works by inhibiting an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, ROUSTRIN  is responsible for the production of cholesterol in the liver. By reducing the amount of cholesterol that is produced, rosuvastatin helps to lower the levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol in the blood, which is often referred to as "bad" cholesterol.
In addition to lowering cholesterol levels, rosuvastatin has been shown to have other beneficial effects on the cardiovascular system. ROUSTRIN  can help to reduce inflammation, improve the function of the endothelium (the inner lining of blood vessels), and stabilize plaque in the arteries.
ROUSTRIN  is usually taken orally once a day, with or without food. It is important to follow the dosage and instructions provided by your healthcare provider and to continue taking the medication even if you feel well. Some common side effects of rosuvastatin include headache, muscle pain, nausea, and diarrhea. In rare cases, ROUSTRIN  can cause more serious side effects, such as liver damage and muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis).
ROUSTRIN is available in strengths of 5,10 ,20 and 40mg.
