Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate
ROUSTRIN F are both medications used to treat high cholesterol levels in the blood. They belong to a group of drugs called lipid-lowering agents.
Rosuvastatin is a type of medication known as a statin. It works by inhibiting an enzyme in the liver that is responsible for producing cholesterol, leading to a decrease in the levels of LDL (low-density lipoprotein) or "bad" cholesterol and an increase in HDL (high-density lipoprotein) or "good" cholesterol. Rosuvastatin is used to reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and is often prescribed to patients with high cholesterol, or those at risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
Fenofibrate, on the other hand, belongs to a group of medications called fibrates. It works by reducing the production of triglycerides (a type of fat) in the liver and increasing the breakdown of triglycerides in the blood. Fenofibrate is often prescribed to patients with high levels of triglycerides, which are associated with an increased risk of heart disease.
Both medications can have side effects, and it is important to discuss with your doctor if either medication is right for you. Some common side effects of rosuvastatin include muscle pain and weakness, while common side effects of fenofibrate include stomach upset and headache. It is also important to let your doctor know about any other medications or supplements you may be taking, as these can interact with both ROUSTRIN F.
ROUSTRIN F is available in strengths of 10 and 20  mg.
