For adults, the usual starting dose of sertraline for depression and OCD is 50 mg once daily. Your doctor may gradually increase the dosage based on your response to treatment, typically up to a maximum of 200 mg per day for depression and 200 mg per day for OCD. However, the typical dosage for most conditions is 50 mg to 100 mg per day.

For anxiety disorders, PTSD, and PMDD, the starting dose is also typically 50 mg once daily, but your doctor may adjust the dosage based on your individual response.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of sertraline may include:

Nausea
Diarrhea
Headache
Dizziness
Insomnia or drowsiness
Dry mouth
Fatigue
Sexual dysfunction (such as decreased libido or difficulty achieving orgasm)
