Sodium Alginate, Sodium Bicarbonate & Calcium Carbonate
HEARTBURN ABC is a combination of three ingredients commonly used together in medications for treating acid reflux and heartburn.
Sodium alginate is a natural polysaccharide derived from seaweed that acts as a barrier to prevent stomach acid from refluxing into the esophagus. Sodium bicarbonate is an antacid that neutralizes stomach acid, while calcium carbonate is another antacid that also helps to reduce stomach acid production.
When combined, these ingredients work together to form a foam barrier that floats on top of the stomach contents and helps to prevent acid reflux. This barrier also helps to protect the esophagus from damage caused by stomach acid.
Common side effects of medications containing HEARTBURN ABC may include constipation or diarrhea, stomach cramps, and nausea. In rare cases, serious side effects such as allergic reactions may occur.
