Torsemide:
- Torsemide belongs to a class of drugs called loop diuretics. It works by increasing the amount of water and salt (sodium) expelled from the body through urine.
- Torsemide helps reduce fluid retention by inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the kidneys, leading to increased urine production and decreased fluid buildup in the body.
- It is commonly used to treat conditions such as congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disorders associated with edema and hypertension.
-
Spironolactone:
- Spironolactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic that works by blocking the actions of aldosterone, a hormone that regulates sodium and potassium balance in the body.
- By blocking aldosterone, spironolactone promotes the excretion of sodium and water while conserving potassium.
- Spironolactone is used to treat conditions such as heart failure, hypertension, and edema associated with liver disease or kidney disorders.
- It is also used to manage conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and hirsutism in women due to its anti-androgenic effects.
