Description:
CLAVAMOXY LS ORAL SUSPENSION is a pediatric antibiotic formulation designed to effectively treat a wide range of bacterial infections in children. This combination medication contains Amoxycillin, a penicillin-type antibiotic, and Clavulanic Acid, a beta-lactamase inhibitor, which work synergistically to combat bacteria that are resistant to amoxicillin alone. It is commonly prescribed for infections of the ear, throat, respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissues.
Key Ingredients:
-
Amoxycillin (200mg): A broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the penicillin group. It is effective against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
-
Clavulanic Acid (28.5mg): A beta-lactamase inhibitor that enhances the effectiveness of amoxycillin by preventing bacterial resistance.
-
Sterile Water for Injections IP (30 ml): Used as a solvent to prepare the oral suspension and ensure accurate dosing for children.
Key Benefits:
-
Broad-spectrum action against a variety of bacterial pathogens
-
Effective in treating infections that are resistant to standard penicillin antibiotics
-
Pediatric-friendly formulation with suitable dosage for young patients
-
Fast-acting relief from symptoms such as fever, pain, and inflammation
-
Useful in both upper and lower respiratory tract infections, ENT infections, and skin infections
How Does It Work?
-
Amoxycillin works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls, leading to the destruction of the bacteria.
-
Clavulanic Acid prevents bacteria from producing beta-lactamase, an enzyme that can inactivate amoxycillin.
-
Together, the combination increases the range of bacteria that can be treated and ensures higher treatment success, especially for beta-lactamase-producing resistant strains.
Directions for Use:
-
Shake the bottle well before each use to ensure uniform mixing.
-
Measure the prescribed dose using a proper measuring spoon or dosing syringe.
-
Administer orally at intervals recommended by the physician, usually every 8 or 12 hours.
-
It is advisable to give the suspension with food to reduce potential stomach upset.
-
Complete the full course of medication, even if the child starts to feel better.
-
Store the reconstituted suspension in a refrigerator and use within the prescribed time frame, usually 7 to 10 days.
