FRUSIP PLUS (Furosemide and Spironolactone)
May 30, 2023
Furosemide and Spironolactone
FRUSIP PLUS are two different medications used in the treatment of fluid retention and edema associated with various conditions, including heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disorders.
Furosemide works by blocking the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the loop of Henle, a part of the kidney tubules. By promoting diuresis, furosemide helps to reduce fluid volume and relieve edema.
Spironolactone acts by inhibiting the effects of aldosterone, a hormone that promotes the reabsorption of sodium and the excretion of potassium in the kidneys. Spironolactone helps to counteract the potassium loss that may occur with loop diuretics like furosemide.
FRUSIP PLUS have a synergistic effect in conditions where there is significant fluid overload and the risk of potassium depletion is a concern.
