Saxagliptin (5mg)
GLISAXAPIN is an oral medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It belongs to a class of drugs called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. GLISAXAPIN helps lower blood sugar levels by increasing the levels of incretin hormones in the body. Incretin hormones stimulate the release of insulin and reduce the production of glucose by the liver.
GLISAXAPIN works by inhibiting the enzyme DPP-4, which breaks down the incretin hormones glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). By inhibiting DPP-4, GLISAXAPIN increases the levels of GLP-1 and GIP, leading to increased insulin release and decreased glucagon secretion.
