Saxagliptin (5mg), Metformin HCI (ER) (500mg)

GLISAXAPIN M

  1. Saxagliptin (5mg): Saxagliptin belongs to a class of medications called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors. It works by increasing the levels of incretin hormones in the body, which help to stimulate the release of insulin from the pancreas and reduce the production of glucose by the liver. By helping to regulate blood sugar levels, saxagliptin helps to improve glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes.

  2. Metformin HCI (ER) (500mg): Metformin is a first-line medication for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It belongs to the biguanide class of medications and works primarily by decreasing the production of glucose by the liver and improving insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues. Metformin also helps to reduce the absorption of glucose from the gastrointestinal tract and may aid in weight loss in some patients.
