Oseltamivir Capsules USP(75mg)
OSELTATERIS
Oseltamivir, sold under the brand name Tamiflu among others, is an antiviral medication used to treat and prevent influenza (flu) caused by influenza A and B viruses. It belongs to a class of medications known as neuraminidase inhibitors.
The typical dosage of oseltamivir for the treatment of influenza in adults and adolescents 13 years and older is 75 mg taken orally twice daily for 5 days. For prophylaxis (prevention) of influenza, the typical dosage is 75 mg taken orally once daily for at least 10 days and up to 6 weeks, depending on the level of exposure to influenza.
Oseltamivir works by inhibiting the activity of the neuraminidase enzyme, which is essential for the release of newly formed virus particles from infected cells. By blocking this enzyme, oseltamivir helps to reduce the spread and severity of influenza virus infections.
